Jharkhand youth held with brown sugar in Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj, Feb 21: Continuing with their crackdown on illegal drug traders, police on Sunday arrested a youth and seized 6.70 gram brown sugar from his possession by conducting a raid at Rairangpur bus stand in Mayurbhanj district.

Based on a tip-off on a drug deal which had been planned at the local bus stand in the morning Rairangpur Police carried out a raid and detained a resident of Jharkhand State while carrying a packet of brown sugar.

The accused identified as Abdul Qayam of Adityapur of Jharkhand State was en-route to a drug deal on his motorcycle.

Post Qayum’s arrest cases under relevant Sections of NDPS Act were lodged against him.

The held peddler was regularly executing drug deals in Rairangpur area and was under scanner for past couple of days, said police.
