Sundergarh, Dec 10: With no respite in sight from human-elephant conflict in the State, a jumbo herd has wreaked havoc in Sundergarh and Subarnapur districts last night by causing massive crop damage.
As per the report, in Sundergarh a herd of wild elephants comprising of 25 to 30 elephants entered into Ujwalpur Forest Range and destroyed six houses in Tildega and Tikinibandha village after damaging acres of crop.
Seledi village located not very far from the Binika town in Subarnapur district has also a similar story to tell. A herd comprising of 40 elephants entered into it late in the night and grazed on the banana plantation as well as harvested paddy kept at the yard.
Locals have claimed that the herd has kept roaming in and around Binika for past 26 days despite their repeated attempt to drive the pachyderms out.
