Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: Justice S Muralidhar was sworn in as the 32nd Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on Monday.
Governor Ganeshi Lal administered the oath of office at a function in Raj Bhawan here this morning.
Odisha Law Minister Pratap Jena, Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik, Minister of State (Home) Capt Divya Shankar Mishra, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, DGP Abhay and several senior bureaucrats were present on the occasion.
Justice S Muralidhar succeeded Justice Mohammad Rafiq, who was transferred as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
He was serving as a judge at the Punjab & Haryana High Court before he was elevated as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on December 31 last year.
He began his law practice in Chennai in 1984 before he shifted to Delhi in 1987. He became a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2006.
He was transferred to Punjab and Haryana High Court in February 2020.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the elevation of the three Judges including Justice Muralidhar as Chief Justices on December 14, 2020.
