Bhawanipatna, Apr 23: Vigilance sleuths on Friday nabbed a revenue inspector (RI) in Odisha’s Kalahandi district while he was taking Rs 2,000 bribe from a complainant.
The accused RI has been identified as Ramesh Baral. Currently, he is posted as RI of Karlamunda in the district.
As per reports, Baral allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000 from one Biranchi Choudhary for providing demarcation and sketching of a land for Kids World English Medium School in Karlamunda.
Subsequently, Choudhary approached the Vigilance Department and demanded action against the accused State Government official.
Based on the complaint, the vigilance officials today laid a trap and caught Baral red-handed while he was accepting the bribe from Choudhary.
“We have arrested the accused official and seized the bribe money from his possession. Further investigation is underway,” said an official.
