Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda tests positive for COVID-19 days after taking first dose of vaccine

Bhubaneswar, Mar 27: Senior BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP from Odisha’s Kalahandi constituency Basanta Panda has tested positive for COVID-19, nearly four weeks after taking the first dose of Covid vaccine.

Panda on Saturday took Twitter route to share his diagnosis and requested everyone who got in touch with him in the last few days to get themselves tested.

“Today I got a corona test due to my ill health and I have tested positive for COVID-19. All those who have come in contact with me in the few days are requested to please get themselves tested,” Panda tweeted in Odia.

The BJP MP had received the first dose of the Covid vaccine on March 2.

Odisha today recorded 210 new Covid-19 positive cases taking the COVID-19 tally of the State to 3,39,904, informed the State Health and Family Welfare Department.

The State currently has 1,449 active cases, it added.
