The deceased has been identified as Shankuru Naik, son of Jarda Naik of the same locality.
As per the report, Shankuru had been to the local ‘haat’ yesterday evening but didn’t return home till today morning. Later, during a frantic search by his family members his body was found lying inside a thatched hut in the ‘haat’, used for selling country liquor.
While, Badasahi Police has sent the body for autopsy after reaching the spot, the villagers have claimed it to be a case of liquor death.
They have come up with the allegation that, police is not taking strong action against the liquor traders in the area despite repeated complaint by them. Over the past few months a number of lives have been lost to the substandard liquor sold at the Badasahi haat.
On the other hand Badasahi Police is yet to confirm the liquor death. It maintained, the autopsy report is awaited and nothing could be said at this juncture.
