The main road connecting to Balasore-Chandipur was blocked by the locals as part of the protest. The agitators burned tyres for which vehicular movement was disrupted. On being informed, the local police rushed to the spot and held discussion with the protestors.
“Since the opening of the liquor shop, the number of people drinking liquor is increasing gradually. Some young boys are also drinking. It has disturbed many families. Women and school girls are facing troubles while passing through the shop. Ironically, liquor is also being sold illegally at a temporary shop running with support of the licenced shop,” alleged protestors.
They demanded immediate closure of the shop.
In his reaction, the liquor store owner stated that they sell liquor and don’t bother as to who is drinking outside.
