Gajapati, Feb 8: The lone candidate of Gajapati district who had filed her nomination for ward member post of Sabakota panchayat under Manjusha in Andhra Pradesh has withdrawn the same on Sunday, after district administration’s dissuading steps.
Laxmi Sabar of Manikapatana village in Gangabada of Rayagada block had joined the election fray after AP district administration officials ran an illegal campaign in her village to select candidates. She had decided to fight the election as a YSR-supported candidate.
The result came a day after a team of district administration officials from Gajapati visited Rayagada block and appealed residents against participating in the AP polls which are scheduled to be held on February 13.
The visit was scheduled after Odisha Government received flaks from various quarters for doing nothing against Andhra Pradesh’s continuous efforts of grabbing border villages.
In the wake of the allegations of Odia candidates taking part in the ensuing AP panchayat elections, the Gajapati district administration has issued showcause to the revenue officer of Manjusha to explain unauthorised entry into Odisha revenue villages.
