The district police has registered a murder case against Collector Manish Agarwal and four others in connection with the death of Collector's personal assistant (PA) Debnarayan Panda.
Agarwal and the other four employees of the Collectorate were booked under the Sections of IPC 302, 506, 201, 204, 120(B) and 34, sources said.
On December 27 last year, Panda went missing under mysterious circumstances and his body was recovered from Satiguda dam next day. His motorcycle and helmet were found lying near the dam.
As per reports, the murder case was registered after the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court directed the police to book Agarwal and four of his associates after hearing the plea of Panda’s wife Banaja Panda.
The deceased PA’s wife had moved the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court seeking justice.
Malkangiri Collector's personal assistant Deba Narayan Panda, who was missing since Friday, was found dead on Saturday. His body was found in Satiguda dam.
Notably, Panda had left his office chamber at around 1 pm on December 27 last year but did not reach his house. When he did not return till night, his wife tried to contact him but his mobile was unreachable. She later registered a missing complaint in Malkangiri police station.
Later, police found Panda's motorcycle, shoes and helmet at the bridge of Satiguda dam and during the search operation, fire fighters recovered Panda's body from the dam next day.
