The held accused has been identified as Bipul Bag, a resident of Tusura area.
Being tip-off that wildlife smuggling is underway discreetly under Tusura Police limits, the STF raided a house in the morning. During the raid an ivory weighing around 9 kg was found from the spot and Bipul who was present in the house failed to produce any document in support of the same.
After arrest of the accused the STF charged him under the Wildlife Protection Act and started interrogation.
Worth mentioning, in last two years the STF has seized 21 leopard skins, 12 ivories, 2 deer skins, 8 live pangolins and 15 kg pangolin scales. 48 wildlife smugglers have also been taken into custody during the same period.
