The deceased has been identified as P Subrat Rao alias Chandu.
As per reports, the incident took place at the Narayan slum of Unit-8 area in the State Capital where one Manju and her husband had been smuggling brown sugar by using Chandu’s name.
Irate over this, Chandu, along with two of his friends, had gone to the accused couple and asked them to stop selling brown sugar by using his name. Following which a heated argument erupted between them.
The argument turned ugly when the accused couple attacked Chandu and his friends with sharp-edged weapons. While Chandu died on the spot, his two friends sustained severe injuries in the attack.
The accused couple reportedly absconded soon after the incident.
The locals rescued the injured persons and rushed them to the Capital Hospital in the city for their treatment.
On being informed, Police reached the spot and started an investigation to the matter.
