The accused has been identified as Surendra Sabar of the same locality.
As per the information provided by Gunupur Model Police Station IIC Manoj Kumar Behera, the victim identified as Gouri Bauri had gone missing from his in-laws’ house on April 5 suspiciously, post which her family had lodged a missing case.
During investigation, police discovered that Surendra who had married Gouri around 10 years ago had a bitter relationship with her. Domestic quarrel was occurring between them on regular intervals over petty issues.
On the day of the incident, Surendra took the victim to a forest area located near the village in a pre-planned manner and killed her over there. He dumped the body in Kuruguda forest subsequently to destroy evidence.
After Gouri’s remained missing for five days, her elder sister smelled rat in the incident and lodged a missing case at Gunupur Police Station and the truth was unearthed.
After the accused confessed to killing his wife during police interrogation and the body was discovered from Kuruguda forest, he was charged under Sections 302,201 and 498 (A) of IPC to be forwarded to court.
