When the combing operation was on in Mathili area, the Left-wing extremists started firing on seeing the security personnel on the afternoon of September 21.
Malkangiri, Sept 23: Security personnel busted a Maoist camp near Tulasi hill area under Mathili police station limits in Odisha’s Makangiri district and seized huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the spot, police said on Thursday.
“Tipped-off about the Maoists camping in Tulasi hill area near Kimiti and Chandimeta village under Mathili police station limits, a team of the Special Operation Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) launched a combing operation there on September 20,” said Malkangi SP Prahlad Sahai Meena.
“When the combing operation was on, the Left-wing extremists started firing on seeing the security personnel on the afternoon of September 21. The security personnel also retaliated,” he added.
“The red rebels, however, fled the camp leaving behind a huge stock of arms, ammunitions and other items,” Meena said.
Later, during search operation, huge amount of arms and other Maoist items including four guns, one SLR empty case, Maoist literature, medicines, umbrellas, uniforms and posters were seized from the spot.
Meanwhile, the security personnel have intensified combing operation in the forest area of Mathili block in the district.
