Angul, Feb 9: In yet another incident of illegal coal mining in Angul district, the special squad of district police seized a mini truck carrying coal illegally and arrested one person by conducting a raid at Charibatia Chhak under Chhendipada Police Station on Tuesday.
The identification of the arrested person, who happens to be the driver of the truck, is yet to be ascertained.
The raid was conducted by the special squad after Chhendipada Police got specific intelligence input on the illegal coal consignment which was being transported to inter-district locations.
After intercepting the truck bearing registration number-OR 19A 4385 near Charibatia Chhak police carried out an inspection of it. About 5 ton illegal coal was found from the truck and was seized as the driver failed to produce necessary permit for it.
Notably, it is the fifth vehicle which has been seized in connection with illegal coal transport in Angul district in last one week. Earlier, on Feb 3 the special squad had seized at least four trucks from the same post for carrying coal illegally.
