Jajpur, Feb 13: Two bike-borne miscreants allegedly hurled a country-made bomb at a petrol pump under Byree Police station limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Friday night.
According to reports, two youths on a motorcycle reached the Indian Oil fuel filling station, owned by Smita Ranjan Pradhan, at around 10 PM last night and asked the salesman, identified as Himanshu Samal, to fill petrol in their two-wheeler.
However, the salesman refused to fill the fuel as the station was closed by that time. Following which, the miscreants allegedly assaulted the salesman and hurled a bomb at the fuel station.
They miscreants also tried to snatch the cash-containing bag from Samal but the latter managed to hold the duo till police reached the spot.
Byree police detained the accused duo as well as seized a motorcycle and three curde bombs from the spot.
Samal sustained minor injuries on his face in the incident.
“A case has been registered against the accused duo at Byree police station in this connection and further investigation is under way,” a police official said.
