Bhubaneswar, Mar 7: BJP Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Sunday said the State Government has created the Department of Mission Shakti with a sole aim to grab votes in the upcoming elections and has least interest in empowering women.
“The State Government has announced to create a new Mission Shakti Department as elections are ahead. If the State Government was so concerned for women, it could have created the special department much earlier,” Aparajita said, wanting to know why the State Government took 20 years to take such a decision.
In my knowledge, women in our State are more neglected. Women and children are being subjected to violence in large numbers in Odisha as per NCRB report. Women are economically very poor. The State Government should give focus in this aspect of women,” contended Sarangi.
