According to information, the length of the King Cobra was nearly 12 feet. The mongoose stumbled upon it at a forest near the Pachalingeshwar Temple. The fight went on for about an hour. The King Cobra sometimes tried to climb up a tree. However, the mongoose went playing tricks and attacking it with its sharp teeth.
On being informed, Manoranjan Das, a tourist guide, reached the spot and rescued it. Later he handed over the snake to the Kuladiha forest department.
“The injured King Cobra is now undergoing treatment at the veterinary centre at Nilgiri. After recovery, it will be freed in Kuladiha sanctuary,” said Kuldiha Ranger Bijay Mohapatra.
