In all districts, the night curfew will continue till 5 am.
During night curfew, people have been asked to stay indoors and not to go outside unless they have emergencies. Police will be checking in all cities, including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, through the night. Stringent action will be taken against violators a per the Epidemic Act, said Odisha Police.
Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed In Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to strictly enforce the night curfew. As many as 10 platoons of police force and 60 officers are on duty in the capital city, said Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi.
According to latest information, patrolling was held in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Brahmapur, Rourkela, Balasore, Sambalpur and other cities as a mark of beginning of night curfew.
In the capital city, flag march was done by the police in the evening to make people aware of the night curfew. Shops and malls were advised to start closing their shutters from 8 pm so that people visiting markets will be home well before 9 pm.
Checking was being done at about 25 places in the city.
Shops and malls were closed in all cities in the State, according to information.
As per norms, people with railway and air tickets, media people and people engaged in essential services are being allowed to move. Patients and their attendants are being checked properly. They were asked to show prescriptions and other documents to substantiate illness.
It may be night curfew has been enfornced in urban areas as the number of daily Covid 19 positive cases has been increasing for the last 15 days.
