Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: A few hours after Union Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel issued a direction for withdrawal of notification for Draft Heritage By-laws for Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, the National Monuments Authority (NMA) issued an order for withdrawal of the same.
“This is to inform the public at large that the Public Notice of even number dated January 18, 2021 regarding public consultation for the draft Heritage Bye Laws of Shri Jagannath Temple and subsidiary shrines together with adjacent area comprised in Survey Plot 1, 2 and 3 district Puri, Odisha has been withdrawn due to some technical glitches and the revised notice will be issued later,” read the order of the NMA.
Notably, the Minister, earlier in the day, had issued a direction to the NMA to withdraw the draft by-laws soon after Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi and BJP MPs met him and urged him to withdraw the same.
BJD MPs had also met the Minister and made the same request.
