Bargarh, Dec 13: The famous open pandal Dhanu Jatra, which is held for long 11 days at Bargarh in Odisha every year, will not be held this year due to prevalence of Covid pandemic, informed Bargarh district Collector Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan here this morning.
The Collector said a decision to stop the Jatra was taken at a meeting held between administration official and members of the Dhanu Jatra Committee at the DRDA office here.
Besides, incomes and expenditures of the last year Jatra were presented at the meeting.
Among others, the Bargarh Sub-Collector, ADM and members of the Jatra committee were present.
It may be noted that the Dhanu Jatra is staged in an open pandal spreading over two villages and a river in between them. Thousands of people throng Bargarh to witness the drama that presents mythological events from Lord Shrikrishna’s birth to killing of demon king Kansha.
