Bhubaneswar, May 13: In view of residents of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar violating Covid norms during the ongoing lockdown period, the Twin City Commissionerate Police on Thursday said morning walk, evening walk and cycling will not be allowed during the lockdown.
Police Commissioner Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi said despite restrictions people are doing morning walk, cycling and evening walk in the twin cities.
He said a total of 22 flying squads have been formed to launch drive against hoarders and black marketers of Covid essential items. He said strict action would be taken against private hospitals if they charge fees beyond ceiling made by the State Government. He appealed people to inform the Commissionerate Police by dialing 112 if the private hospitals overcharge.
ADG (Law and Order) Yashwant Jethwa informed that fines of Rs 1.80 lakh has so far been collected from the lockdown violators.
Police have registered cases against 71 persons and arrested 269 persons for violation of the Covid norms. Besides, 830 vehicles have been seized, said the ADG.
