Bhubaneswar, Jun 2: Public and private properties damaged by the recent Cyclone Yass in Odisha have been assessed at Rs 610 crore by the State Government.
The very severe cyclonic storm had made a landfall at Bahanaga in Balasore district on May 26.
Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena informed about the total losses occurred in the affected districts. He said while overnment properties worth Rs 520 crore were damaged, the losses caused to people’ properties was pegged at Rs 90 crore. Besides, Rs 66 crore is required for relief work.
While about 60 lakh people belonging to 11,000 villages were affected due to ‘Yaas’, 150 villages were inundated due to high tides caused by the cyclone.
