Puri, Dec 12: The new in-charge of Odisha BJP Daggubati Purandeswari, who is on her maiden visit to Odisha, performed darshan of the deities at Sri Jagannath Temple here on Saturday.
Purandeswari was welcomed with a stole which was offered by the servitor upon her arrival at the temple amid the presence of BJP activists along with district leaders and office bearers of the party including Puri MLA Jayanta Kumar Sarangi, District President Ashrit Patnaik and State BJP spokesperson and general secretary Lekhashree Samantasinghar.
Post performing the darshan of the deities from outside the temple near Aruna Stambha, the new in-charge pitched for the opening of Srimandir without further delay claiming that other big temples in the country have already been opened for the public.
Criticizing the State Government over the unauthorised sale of land belonging to Bagala Dharmasala Purandeswari mentioned about party leader Sambit Patra who took the matter to court.
“We demand that CM Naveen Patnaik should take all care to preserve and protect the properties of Lord Jagannath,” said Purandeswari while raising the Bagala Dharmasala issue on the occasion.
Notably, the Odisha BJP in-charge is scheduled to address a Press conference at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar later in the day today.
