Speaking to media persons outside the House, Mallick alleged that Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP Deputy Leader of House Bishnu Charan Sethi and Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra threw earphone and papers at the Speaker’s podium while opposing the passage of Lokayukta Amendment Bill.
She also alleged that the BJP legislators hurled shoes at Speaker’s podium and created ruckus in the House.
Amid the ruckus, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned the House till 4 pm.
“Law will take its own course. Appropriate action will be taken after examination of CCTV footage,” Speaker told the media after adjourning the House.
Meanwhile, Sethi denied the allegation of hurling shoes at the Speaker’s podium while speaking to media persons outside the House.
Odisha Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was passed in the State Assembly amid sloganeering from Opposition benches.
