Bhubaneswar, Jul 9: The BJP on Friday concluded its three-day protest against the alleged irregularities in the execution of Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) houses at block offices across Odisha, giving a warning that it would take to the streets if eligible people are not allotted PMAY houses at the earliest.
“Whopping Rs 1,000 crore has been misappropriated in allotment of 1 lakh houses in nine blocks across five districts. The Central team has revealed this in its survey report,” alleged BJP activists.
They alleged that houses have been allotted on party (BJD) considerations and more than one member of families supporting BJD have got houses. They too alleged that most of the houses have been constructed with substandard materials and many thatched houses have been geo-tagged as pucca houses.
They too severely criticized the State Government for putting PMAY logo in small abbreviated size and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana in full and large size in front of the houses constructed with Central funds.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing all financial supports to Odisha to provide PMAY pucca houses to all poor people by 2022. As such, the Odisha has already been provided 30 lakh houses. However, the BJD Government is allotting houses in party considerations. As a consequence, eligible people are being deprived of houses,” alleged saffron party leaders and workers.
Hundreds of party workers staged protests at each of 314 blocks for three days from July 7 to 9.
