Bhubaneswar, Feb 25: The infighting of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) intensified as a clash broke out between two groups of the party at the Congress Bhawan here in Odisha on Thursday, in the presence OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik.
As per reports, a meeting of the OBC cell of the party was scheduled to be held at the State party headquarters here today. However, two groups of Jagatsinghpur district Congress had face-off before the OBC Cell meeting at the Congress Bhawan.
One group allegedly locked up former OBC Cell chief Bishnu Charan Barik at the party office for his alleged anti-party activities during the recent Tirtol by-poll.
The Congress workers also ransacked the party office and damaged the furniture and other property in the premises.
Later, Patnaik and Jatni MLA Suro Routray managed to pacify the angry workers.
“Stringent action will be taken against indiscipline workers after an inquiry,” OPCC president said.
