Rai was addressing a Press meet at the Circuit House here. He talked about various welfare programmes being undertaken by the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre. He alleged that while beneficiaries from Odisha have been included in all Central schemes in big numbers, the State Government had failed in the schemes reach them.
He informed that as many as 38.06 lakh farmers from Odisha have been benefitted under the Prime Minister Samman Nidhi scheme so far.
“As many as 16.95 lakh houses have been given to Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. But the Odisha Government is not implementing the PMAY in letter and spirit for which beneficiaries are not getting benefit,” Rai alleged further.
He requested the State Government to work in the interest of the poor and homeless people.
On the occasion, he too claimed that the BJP did well in the elections in the Lok Sabha constituency areas and will continue to do so in coming days. He said there is no secret understanding between the BJP and the BJD.
“But the Centre and the State Government should work in tandem for welfare of the people,” he said.
Senior leader Prithviraj Harichandan and Cuttack district BJP president Prakash Behera were present at the Press meet.
Earlier in the morning, Rai had visited the Maa Cuttack Chandi Temple and paid obeisance to the Goddess. Then he garlanded the statue of Subhas Candra Bose at his birthplace Odia Bazaar and moved around the Netaji Museum there.
