It seems BJD is getting a taste of his own medicine.
Ahead of voting for Balasore Sadar Assembly by- polls, Biju Janta Dal (BJD) on Wednesday organised a mass joining program at Buanl Panchayat in Balasore district. However, the program soon turned to be a demonstration place after hundreds of women from the Panchayat confronted senior BJD leaders including Odisha’s Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das, Former Minister and BJD Leader Debi Mishra, Former Member of Parliament Rabindra Jena and BJD Leader Arun Dey seeking answers on complete ban on alcohol. The leaders were left red faced, as they failed to answer them. Senor leader Arun Dey tried to pacify them the irate women members of the panchayat, said eye witness.
Speaking to argusnews.in protesting women member of Buanl Panchayat said, “Parties are wooing male electorates with alcohol, cash and food. After consuming alcohol they are abusing female members in the house. The family life of many villagers is completely disturbed due to rampant alcoholism.”
“Lives of people is ruined because of liquor. After consuming alcohol they don’t know, which party they are voting. They are unable to chose and identify the right government,’ said another women.
“Alcoholism has pushed many families to poverty, beside domestic violence has also increased. Sale of alcohol must be banned”, said another women.
