Koraput, Feb 12: In an exemplary act, Odisha Police facilitated medical treatment to a surrendered woman Maoist and after her recovery, the woman was handed over to her family members here on Friday.
As per reports, Area Committee Member (ACM) Rame Madkami, who was working in RK protection group, had surrendered before the district Superintendent of Police here on December 2, 2020.
After her surrender, Madkami, was sent for a medical check-up. Subsequently, her medical reports stated that she had a bullet injury in her body that she had sustained during an exchange of fire in Pedabailu area in Andhra Pradesh in 2020 but Maoists had not provided any medical treatment to her, said Koraput Police in a tweet.
Currently steps are being taken to provide monetary assistance to Madkami as per the surrender and rehabilitation scheme of Odisha Government, it added.
During her medical check-up, it is noticed that she has a bullet injury, which she had sustained in an EoF in Pedabailu area of AP state in 2020, for which her party did not provide any medical treatment.
