Bhubaneswar, May 14: Odisha registered its highest single-day spike of 12,390 Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, according to the latest data provided by the State Health and Family Welfare Department on Friday morning.
Out of the 12,390 fresh Covid-19 cases, 6,938 cases were detected from quarantined people, while 5,452 cases were reported from local contacts.
Khordha district recorded the maximum number of fresh cases at 2,201, followed by Sundargarh at 882, Cuttack at 719 and Sambalpur at 677.
With the new cases, the total tally of Covid-19 cases in the State rose to 5,79,687.
As many as 4,82,345 people of the State have recovered from Coronavirus infection so far, said the Health Department.
The State currently has 1,04,016 active cases, it added.
