Bhubaneswar, Mar 26: Odisha Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Odisha PK Mohapatra on Friday wrote to Union Health Secretary, requesting supply of vaccines for at least 15 days in advance for uninterrupted vaccination drive in the State.
Odisha has already administered more than 20 lakh doses of vaccine to health care workers, frontline workers and Age Appropriate Group of Citizens. From April 1, 2021, all citizens aged 45 years and above will be vaccinated and the State has estimated the target to be nearly one crore, wrote Mohapatra.
He mentioned that Odisha is unable to plan vaccination sessions for more than 15 days in advance due to insufficient and erratic vaccine supply.
Noting that wave condition will be worsening in coming days, Mohapatra mentioned that the State is planning to achieve vaccination up to 2 lakhs daily and complete the target before the weather becomes more severe. “Hence, you are requested to supply at least 15 days’ vaccine requirement in advance to our State for uninterrupted vaccination drive,” urged Mohapatra.
