“Thanks Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his efforts in increasing ethanol content in petrol from 2% to 8% in the last 8 years. Ethanol produced from rice, wheat and maize can be used in petrol and, thereby, farmers will immensely benefit,” said Balyan.
The Union Minister was speaking at the valedictory function of the Argus Agri Vikas-2022, an agriculture conclave held by the Argus News, a reputed channel of Odisha, running under the Pratham Broadcast India Private Limited.
He suggested that focus should be given on cultivation of ‘Basumati’ rice in Odisha. He requested the State Government to provide all support to the fishermen for enhancing livelihood.
“Fishing sector in Odisha, if focussed, can generate large number of employments. Livelihoods of fisherman can be strengthened if fishing is prioritised,” asserted Balyan.
On the occasion, Khordha’s noted fish farmer Padma Shri Batakrushna Sahoo was felicitated. While Minister Balyan graced the occasion as chief guest, Padma Shri Sahoo was the guest speaker of the evening. Among others, ICAR Director Dr Ajit Sasani shared the dais.
At the outset Argus News Editor-in-chief Sanjay Jena delivered the welcome address. News channel CEO Prakash Sahoo gave away mementos. Shaktimayee Mishra anchored the entire event and finally presented a vote of thanks.
