An injection costing Rs 16 crores is needed to save the life of the infant, according to doctors. The injection (Zolgensma - a gene replacement therapy) manufactured by a US-based firm is the most effective drug for such patients, doctors said.
Rajveer's parents Kulamani Rana and Tamlika Das have requested the government, social organisations and public to donate money for his treatment.
Recently, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood urged people to come to the infant’s aid. “We have seen in the past what public cooperation can do. People have been cured of this disease before. So, I request all to come forward and donate as per your capacity so that the child gets a new life,” the actor said in a video message.
"SMA 1 is a genetic disorder. One out of 10,000 children gets affected by the disorder. It slows down the movement of the child and the muscles stop working. Later, it leads to the death of the child," said a doctor.
Those who want to lend a helping hand to Rajveer can donate through PhonPe/GooglePay with Kulamani Rana’s Mobile no-6360371595.
