The driver, who was pinned in the vehicle’s cabin, was rescued from the water body after nearly five hours.
As per reports, the driver of a container truck, bearing Uttar Pradesh registration number, lost control of the wheels near Dhodra while giving way to a two-wheeler late last night. The vehicle fell off the bridge into the Dhodra river.
The helper of the truck managed to come outside. However the diver got stuck inside the cabin under nearly 5 feet-high deep water in the water body.
On being informed, police and local fire services personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Later, one more fire team from Nabarangpur was pressed into the rescue operation.
After a toil of nearly five hours, the driver was rescued from the water body.
Both the driver and helpers, who sustained minor injuries in the accident, were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Umerkote for their treatment.
The driver and helper reportedly hail from Uttar Pradesh’s Hardali district.
Umerkote Police registered a case and started a probe into the matter.
