As per reports, Murmu’s body was recovered from Mahalapada ghat of Mahanadi river near Kakhadi village in Choudwar area this afternoon.
Murmu was missing since the ODRAF boat carrying four of his colleagues and two journalists capsized near Manduli barrage in the Mahanadi river while trying to rescue a stranded elephant from the middle of the river.
With this the death toll from the boat mishap rose to two. Yesterday, TV journalist Arindam Das died due to drowning following the mishap.
The Odisha Government today announced Rs.4 lakh compensation for Das’ family.
