Bhawanipatna, Feb 14: One more elephant died in the Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Sunday.
The veterinary team of the wildlife sanctuary said, the female elephant suspectedly died of bacterial Septicemia.
With the fresh death, the elephant death toll in the wildlife sanctuary mounted to six in last two weeks.
Kalahandi RCCF Sudipta Dash informed that the carcass of jumbo was found near Ghusurigudi drain in the sanctuary, the same place where other carcasses were recovered earlier.
The female jumbo’s carcass has been seized for autopsy, he added.
Yesterday, an elephant was found dead near the water body in the sanctuary.
Meanwhile, a team from Centre for Wildlife Health of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), headed by Prof Niranjan Sahu, visited the sanctuary on Saturday to inspect the elephant death cases.
