Soro, Mar 8: Unearthing yet another incident of illegal cattle trafficking police on Monday rescued at least 100 cattle by conducting a raid on two container trucks in Sergarh area and arrested six persons.
Getting intimation on the illegal cattle consignment, a team of Sergarh Police under IIC Krishna Pingua intercepted at least two container trucks on the National Highway-16 near toll gate in the morning.
During the search of the intercepted vehicles, cops came across around 100 cattle being transported under inhumane conditions and rescued them.
After as many as six persons who were boarding the trucks failed to produce necessary permit for cattle transport, they were detained.
The rescued cattle were sent to a shed in Nilagari and the detained persons are currently under the custody of Khantapada Police.
The seized cattle were being sent to Kolkata of neighbouring West Bengal from Khordha.
