Bhubaneswar, May 17: BJP MP Basant Panda on Monday demanded that the State Government soon establish TMCs and temporary quarantine centres in gram panchayats in order to check the spread of coronavirus in rural areas.
“Due to lack of testing, many people are dying of Covid unreported in rural areas. The State Government should take serious note of spread of coronavirus and deaths caused by it in rural areas,” demanded Panda.
Stating that migrant Odias have already come to the State in a very big number, Panda said they have been main reason behind the spread of the virus in rural areas. They need to be kept in temporary covid care centres on their arrival in villages and provided health care.
“The Government should establish TMCs and covid care centres in GPs as they were operating last year. Besides, the last year’s medicine distribution system should be restored,” said Panda.
He suggested that the Government form “Covid Crisis Management Teams”, taking Asha Workers, Health Workers, political workers and noted persons at Gram Panchayat and village levels to combat the virus.
