Cuttack, Dec 10: The alleged case of kidnapping and murder of five-year-old girl Paree took a twist as the IIC of the Nayagarh police station was suspended and the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Nayagarh transferred on Thursday.
DG of Police Abhay suspended IIC Reenarani Sahoo on the charge of neglecting investigation even after four-and-a-half months of the incident occurred in Jadupur village under the police station. The DGP office informed this in a release on Thursday evening.
It may be noted that the tiny girl had been kidnapped from her house in Jadupur on July 14 and her skeletal remains were recovered later from the backyard of her house. The incident has triggered political protests in the State.
While the State Government has initiated a SIT probe into the horrifying incident, the main opposition BJP has insisted on its demands of CBI inquiry and ouster of local MLA and Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo for allegedly shielding the main accused.
BJP Odisha in-charge D Purandeswari visited Jadupur and consoled Paree’s parents. Later, she told reporters that her party would not sit silent until slain Paree and her bereaved parents have not been given justice.
