“The number of Covid cases in the second wave is more than that of the first wave. Proportionately, the number of deaths has also risen. A complete lockdown may worsen the situation. Unlocking should be allowed to some extent to protect livelihood of people,” opined Prof Mahapatra.
He opined that private organisations/offices should run with 50% of the manpower. There should be restrictions in operation of malls, gyms, temples, religious institutions and parks. He said a complete unlocking during Snan Purnima and Rath Yatra would prove dangerous.
“Unlocking should be undertaken in phases instead of a complete one,” he contended.
