Pipili by-poll: BJD, Congress candidates to file nomination today

Puri, Mar 30: Former MLA late Pradeep Maharathy’s son and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Rudra Pratap Maharathy, and Congress’ Ajit Mangaraj will file their nomination paper for the ensuing Pipili by-poll today.

According to sources, both the BJD and Congress candidates will file their papers at the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) office here on Tuesday, on the last date for filing of nominations for the by-poll.

Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ashrit Patnaik had filed his nomination paper for the by-poll.

The polling for the by-election is scheduled to be held on April 17 and votes will be counted on May 2.

The by-poll was necessitated for the Pipli assembly segment due to the demise of BJD MLA  Pradeep Maharathy in October 2020.
