Puri, Apr 11: Police arrested two persons in connection with the alleged attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at Brahmanbad village in Delang area during campaigning for Pipili by-poll in Odisha on Sunday.
Police have not revealed the identity of arrested persons till the report was filed.
At least three BJP workers sustained severe injuries in the alleged attack on them. They were initially admitted to Delang hospital and later two of them were shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar as their condition deteriorated.
The polling for the Pipili by-election is scheduled to be held on April 17 and votes will be counted on May 2.
The by-poll was necessitated for the Pipli assembly segment due to the demise of BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy in October 2020.
