“Earlier, Odisha was not getting demanded budgetary allocation for development in railway sector. But the State is being provided more than demanded amount every year. The Budgetary allocation has increased every year since 2014. This year, a record amount of Rs 9,734 crpre has been allocated for Odisha,” Vaishnaw told a Press conference here today.
On the occasion, the Union Minister thanked the Prime Minister for his contribution to Odisha’s railway sector.
“We all have to make joint efforts to utilise the allocated funds. Forest clearance and land acquisition need to be done on time. We will get more funds if we spend the sanctioned amount on time,” said Vaishnaw.
He added, “Upgrade works of 12 railway stations in Odisha are underway. New rail lines have also been planned. Works for three new rail lines in Mayurbhanj district are going on,” he said.
He too informed that 3,933 sites have been identified for development in telecom sector. He said a list of unconnected villages is being prepared for internet coverage.
Vaishnaw claimed that the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had turned bankrupt during the UAP regime. However, the situation has now changed with the public telecom firm taking initiative to introduce 4G and planning for 5G. The BSNL has been provided Rs 45,000 crore this year, he said.
He said record Budgetary allocations have been made for employment generation, helping farmers, supplying water to households, and for development in all other sectors. A special allocation has been made for sending aides directly to farmers’ bank accounts.
He said Prime Minister is all committed for development of Odisha and all efforts are being made translate the commitments into reality.
