Bhubaneswar, May 28: PM Narendra Modi who arrived in Odisha today to assess the damage and loss caused by severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ recently has left for the aerial survey of the affected areas. The survey will last for 2 hours.
After assessing the loss the PM is likely to announce the relief package for the affected districts later in the day.
Ahead of leaving for the survey to Balasore and Bhadrak districts in his chopper Modi held meeting at the airport in the presence of CM, the Governor, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi accompanied by SRC, Odisha, DGP and Private Secretary to CM.
We didn’t place any demand for relief package to the PM during the meeting as the assessment of damage is still underway. A report on the same could be tabled in 7 days,” informed the SRC Pradeep Jena while speaking to the media after the meeting.
Instead, Odisha has demanded to long-term solutions for the natural disasters including disaster resilience power system and coastal storm surge protection.
