Bhubaneswar, March 28: Senior BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar has expressed her concern over alleged deteriorating law and order situation in the State and said, “Political violence is on the rise in Odisha”.
Samantsinghar’s statement came minutes after a Right-to-Information (RTI) activist and BJP leader of Jajpur district, identified as Sarbeswar Behura, sustained severe injuries in a bomb attack on Saturday night.
In a tweet in Odia, Samantsinghar also urged DGP Abhay to intervene in the matter immediately and arrest the perpetrators.
As per reports, Behura was returning home along with one Sushant Behera from Toaramuha village in a car at around 9 pm when two bike-borne men hurled bombs at him near Imam Nagar in Jajpur district, leaving the RTI activist and his co-passenger seriously injured.
Behura has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack city. His condition was stated be critical, when the last reports came in.
The RTI activist has been working to expose irregularities in government schemes and mining sector.
