Jashobanta succumbed to Covid-19 today while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here in Odisha. He was 52.
The Union Minister said he was grieved beyond words to learn about the death of Raghunath Mohapatra’s son.
“I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of Yashwant Mohapatra, the eldest son of the late Raghunath Mohapatra, a prominent sculptor and MP. The death of Raghunath Mohapatra and his two sons in a span of few days left me grieved”, Pradhan tweeted in Odia.
“My condolences to the bereaved families. May the departed soul rest in peace,” he added.
As per reports, Jashobanta was undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar after he had tested positive for Covid-19. He was shifted to a private hospital in the city yesterday as his condition deteriorated.
However, he lost his battle against the coronavirus at around 1 pm today.
Yesterday, Jashobanta’s younger brother and the former Odisha cricket team captain Prasant Mohapatra died of Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. He was 48.
Raghunath Mohapatra, a Padma Vibhushan awardee and Rajya Sabha MP, also died of Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on May 9.
