Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hailed the Rs 59,048-carore 'Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Castes (PMS-SC) scheme approved by the Union Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
He too thanked the Prime Minister and Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot for the scheme to be funded 60% by the Union Government.
‘Modi Govt’s big push in education for SCs: Approval for transformative changes in 'Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Castes (PMS-SC)’will benefit more than 4 crore backward students in the next 5 years,” tweeted Pradhan.
The Central Government will provide 35,534 crore to implement the programme over a period of five years. “This fund support will help SC students meet their aspirations and empower them to reach goals. It will help 4 crore students eradicate problems in their studies and help in providing quality education to them,” asserted Pradhan.
He said the Modi Government is committed to making backward class people equal partner in the Atmanirbhar Bharat developmental process.
