Bhubaneswar, Apr 28: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday prayed for the safety and well-being of everyone in Assam impacted by the earthquake today morning.
He too appealed to all people of Assam to be vigilant and not panic.
Notably, a powerful earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale jolted Assam and other parts of Northeast on Wednesday morning. Two aftershocks were also recorded within minutes of the first quake.
The earthquake originated in Tezpur of Assam and tremors were felt even in North Bengal and other parts of the Northeast.
Videos emerging from Assam show walls have collapsed; windows were shattered in some areas due to the impact of the earthquake. Cracks have been spotted in some buildings in Assam. There are no reports of casualties or injuries so far.
