Puri: Raths to south-face today, Bahuda Yatra on Tuesday
Puri: The three chariots, Nandighosh of Lord Jagannath, Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra and Darpadalana of Devi Subhadra, stationed at Shree Gundicha Temple here, will be south-faced today for Bahuda Yatra to be held on July 20 (Tuesday).
The Raths take Dakshina Moda (Face to south) on the very next day of Hera Panchami, which was celebrated yesterday. Maa Laxmi had come from Shreemandir to meet Lord Jagannath. Maa Laxmi broke a part of Nandighosh Rath and moved back to Shreemandir as part of Hera Panchami ritual.
Today, the Raths will move from Singhadwar (Lions’ Gate) to the Nakachana Dwar of the Shree Gundicha Temple. The Raths carrying the Trinity had arrived at the Gundicha Temple on July 12. The deities are now being worshiped at the Janmabedi (Adapa Mandap) inside the temple.
As per ritual, Ajna Mala of the deities will be taken to respective Raths before they are south-turned. First Darpadalan chariot and then Taladhwaja and Nandighost Raths will dragged to Nakachana Dwar. A thin sand-bed has been created at Badasankha for make movement of Raths easy, according to reports.
