The Hundi was opened and donated notes and coins were counted in the presence of officials of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration.
The donation received from devotees would be used for the overall development of the temple, said a SJTA official.
Notably, 26 Nijogs have been managing different affairs of the temple for long.
Meanwhile, Nijog members expressed unhappiness that earlier they were not being informed about donation amounts collected through the Hundi.
“Donation of whopping Rs 2,69,392 was received in just two months. For years, we had not been informed about such collections. The former Executive Officer was monopolistically handling affairs. We apprehend lakhs of rupees has been bungled,” said Nijog members.
They too demanded that Hundi be opened and donations counted always in full public view. The SJTA should issue an order to the new EO in this regard, they demanded.
